In this tutorial, we will explore 10 effective strategies, tips, and share sample scripts to help you to please your customers and generate thousands of lovely 5-star reviews. Let’s dive in!
1. Create Exceptional Digital Products
Firstly, invest time and effort in creating exceptional digital coaching products that you know your target audience need and want. If you ensure that your content is valuable, well-structured, and easy to understand, you’ll have customers queuing up to leave their 5-star reviews.
2. Provide Stellar Customer Service
Next make sure you are always providing stellar customer service. Offering excellent customer service is key to gaining positive reviews. Therefore, respond promptly to inquiries, be friendly and professional in all interactions, and go the extra mile to help your customers succeed.
3. Send Follow-up Messages
Send personalized follow-up messages to customers after they’ve made a purchase. Express gratitude for their support and politely ask for a review. Provide a direct link to your Etsy shop’s review page to make it easier for them to leave feedback.

- A description of any other online platforms that might be needed.

Many of the positive reviews I have received mention how quickly their questions were answered when they had a query. Therefore, try to respond to your customers within 24 hours. You can make this easy by using the Etsy app on your phone. That way, you can answer customers’ questions immediately.
9. Encourage Feedback
Create an open and welcoming environment for customer feedback. Encourage customers to share their thoughts and suggestions. When customers see that their feedback is valued and acted upon, they are more likely to leave positive reviews and recommend your shop to others.
10. Respond to Negative Reviews.
Negative reviews are inevitable and every business gets them try not to worry. Instead, take a deep breath and pause. Look at the feedback and ask yourself, ‘what can I learn from this?’ Sometimes, a bad review can highlight something you need to change about your product to make it even better for your customers. Therefore, when presented with a bad review, send your customer a private message and try to find a solution for them. This demonstrates that you are committed to customer satisfaction and may help to turn a negative experience into a positive one. You might want to consider offering a refund too.

If you get no response when you reach out to a customer who has given you a bad review, then you can consider writing a public response. However, take care with this. Once you have publically responded to a review, the review and the response cannot be changed. Therefore, always respond politely and with respect. Remember, other buyers will read your response and make judgements about you and your business, so remain positive and respectful.
Remember, the key to receiving 5-star reviews is to provide exceptional customer experiences, deliver high-quality products, and actively engage with your customers.
With that said, it’s important to note that Etsy does not permit:
- offering extra services in exchange for a review
- offering a free product in exchange for a review
